STIMULATION OF OVARIAN FOLLICLES IN HYPOPHYSECTOMIZED RATS BY LOW DOSAGES OF OESTRADIOL BENZOATE

Abstract
A dose as low as 0.5 [mu]g estradiol benzoate administered daily stimulates the small and medium sized follicles of the hypophysectomized immature rat. A similar dose in young intact rats causes an increased ovarian weight. The ovarian follicle is 5-10 times less susceptible to estrogens than the uterus or anterior pituitary gland.
