Abstract
In 3 dogs observed for 4, 5, and 7 mos., after the standard running capacity on a treadmill had been established, cortico-adrenal extract intraperitoneally injected markedly augmented the energy output, up to 100% or more above the normal. The ave. increase in 6 series of experiments was 90%. The running time and the distance run were also increased about 90%. In one instance a dog which regularly ran a distance of about 4 miles before treatment covered over 9 miles under the influence of cortico-adrenal extract. The effects were noticeable for 10-15 days after injection. Blood sugar almost invariably fell during prolonged running, and its course was not notably altered by cortico-adrenal extract. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
