The Distribution of Tamm Horsfall Mucoprotein (Uromucoid) in the Human Nephron

Abstract
Using an immunofluorescence technique, the distribution of uromucoid was studied in 0.5 µ frozen substituted sections of biopsies from 17 kidneys. Uromucoid was demonstrated most frequently in the cells of the distal convoluted tubules, loops of Henle and collecting ducts. It could not be found in the glomeruli or proximal convoluted tubules.
