The Implications of Communication Development for Social Skills Training

Abstract

The use of a developmental perspective in child clinical treatment paradigms relevant to social skills training has been adopted in this article. Research on children's communication, a component of social skill, is extensively reviewed, and the differences in skill indicants across various ages are outlined. Suggestions for incorporating this information into current social skills training programs are offered.
