THE INFLUENCE OF THE THYROID GLAND AND OF THE OVARY ON THE METABOLISM OF IODINE AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY IN THE DOG

Abstract

In [male] dogs the blood iodine level was considerably depressed following thyroidectomy. In [female] dogs, thyroidectomy apparently had no influence on blood iodine level. Following bilateral ovari-ectomy in thyroidectomized dogs, the blood iodine level decreased, simulating the values found in thyroidectomized [male][male].
