Abstract
The effects of insecticides hexachlorane, 666, Agrocide 3, and Agrocide 7, all containing hexachlorocyclohexane (primarily the gamma isomer) as active agents, on seedlings of Zea mays, Triticum vulgare, and other spp. are initially on the cytoplasm, interfering with the formation of the achromatic figures. The major end result is the formation of polyploid cells and associated abnormalities. The agent is effective only when solid particles are in contact with the tissue; the vaporized agent is ineffective.
