Abstract
The paper describes an electron microscope (type E.M.4) which was developed for general purpose, routine electron micrography. The intention was to produce a self-contained instrument which would be smaller, simpler and cheaper than the type E.M.3 without sacrificing too markedly the quality of performance. The descr. of the instrument and the examples of electron micrographs given in the paper show that the objects of development were achieved. The type of mounting adopted for the electron gun is such that the type E.M.4 electron microscope can be used for reflexion electron microscopy with non-ferrous specimens as well as for the more usual transmission type of record. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
