Test box and restraining harness for small animal behavioral studies.

Abstract

A restraining device is described that permits multiple wire and hose connections to the head and body of a small animal, without elaborate swivel joints, yet permitting almost completely free movement within a testing box for behavioral studies. A harness is used that prevents complete rotation of the animal about its own axis. Rats rapidly adapt to this restraint.
