Abstract
Routine Laboratory StudiesRoutine blood counts and urinalyses were obtained in all children, and the hematocrit was determined in the great majority. Except for slight proteinuria in 4 patients, routine urinalysis was unremarkable. Platelets were described as decreased on routine peripheral blood smear in 7 patients. Bone-marrow puncture in 1 of these revealed a hypocellular marrow. A platelet count of 31,000 was found in another. This patient also had a poor clot retraction and a low prothrombin consumption.Review of serial hemoglobin determinations in many patients confirmed the findings previously reported.31 The "physiologic anemia" normally present by two months of . . .Keywords
