Insulin receptors are members of the Class II (Cysteine) family of Tyrosine Kinase receptors that mediate the actions of insulin and insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) (other insulin-like peptides also exist). These ligands control key aspects of mammalian life, including growth, metabolism, and reproduction.
