Recombination-deficient Mutant of Salmonella typhimurium

Abstract
A recombination-deficient (Rec-) UV-sensitive mutant of S. typhimurium grows more slowly than the wild-type strain and degrades its DNA extensively during normal growth and after UV irradiation. A growing Rec- population probably consists of 2 types of cells 1 which can divide and 1 which cannot.
