Electric Field Effects on Excitonic Absorption in Semiconductors

Abstract
A general formula for the absorption by excitons in an inhomogeneous electric field is found. A one-dimensional model with a contact electron-hole interaction is solved exactly for the case of a homogeneous field. The results serve as a test of previous theories.Keywords
