On Hemolysis Mediated by Non-Erythrocytic Antigens, Their Homologous Antibodies and Complement

Abstract

Erythrocytes of sheep, rabbit and man, which have adsorbed extracts of bacteria or blood plasma may be lysed by guinea pig complement if specific antibodies for corresponding adsorbed antigens are also present. This reaction is specific and does not occur if erythrocytes are exposed to the reagents in reverse order.
