Abstract
The genus Prospheres Saunders is redescribed, and its relationships to other genera within the Polycestinae are discussed. A key is given to the genera of the Polyctesini, to which Prospheres and the closely related genus Euleptodema are transferred. A key is provided to the four species of Prospheres. Descriptions are given of each species, two of which, alternecostata and norfolkensis, are described as new. One new synonym is recognized, and lectotype designations are given, together with the data from other material examined. A few notes on the bionomics of P. aurantiopicta are given, and its probable larva described.
