Abstract
Particulars are given of immunization procedures carried out in rabbits in an unsuccessful attempt to produce lupus factor. Experiments on the substrate specificity and inhibition of the lupus reaction are described. From the results it is inferred that the antigenic determinants involved in the lupus reaction lie in the "backbone" configuration of native nucleo-proteins, both nucleohistone and most probably nucleoprotamine. Keywords
