The Occurrence of Arachniotus citrinus in Soils

Abstract
A. citrinus was recovered from one Tennessee soil sample and observed on another by methods used to isolate Histoplasma capsulatum and Microsporum gypseum. Hitherto this organism had been known from observations made on the fungus growing in situ on dung. On Sabouraud dextrose agar, white cottony colonies are formed which develop lemon-yellow color as ascospores develop. Naked asci are successively produced from coiled copulation branches.
