Abstract
Both animals have proved to be excellent exptl hosts for chemotherapeutic tests on L. donovani. but since the disease is seldom fatal for the cotton rat, this animal has the greater potential value. A considerable series of drugs have been tested, but only stilbamidine, 2-hydroxystilbamidine, urea-stibamine, and sodium stibogluconate are particularly promising. Splenic smears were used to determine the intensity of leishmanial infection. Keywords
