Abstract
Three patients suffering from attacks of spontaneous hypoglycemia were studied. The glycemic response after ingested glucose was compared with that obtained after ingestion of an amount of protein calculated to yield an equivalcnt amount of glucose during metabolism. After glucose feeding there occurred an early rise in the blood sugar value followed abruptly by a precipltous fall to hypoglycemic levels. After protein ingestion the blood sugar remained very close to the fasting level for the entire exptl. period (8 hrs.). A prolonged high protein, low carbohydrate diet was successful in alleviating symptoms. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
