HIERARCHICAL DECISION MAKING IN SYSTEM DESIGN

Abstract
Multilevel hierarchical systems are commonplace in engineering design applications. “Optimal” design of multilevel systems is important and leads to cost effective designs. In this paper, a general overview of multilevel systems is presented. A step by step outline for optimal design of such systems and the sensitivity analysis of the resulting designs are presented. A simple example that illustrates the procedure is also included.
