Abstract
The theoretical background is outlined for condensation of pure and mixed vapours in conditions of a film-type condensate. The effect of vapour velocity is important for both pure vapours and those mixed with non-condensable gases. On the basis of the fundamental mechanism of condensation involved, approximation procedures are developed which are particularly useful for designers who wish to have quick methods for use in estimating and rough checking. It is concluded that there is great need at present for testing theoretical and approximate methods against full-scale performance data.
