An X-Ray Diffraction Microcamera and the Specimen Preparation for the Study of Tooth Structure

Abstract
A simplified microcamera for routine work with tissue sections is described, characterized by a 32 [mu] slit capillary and 15 mm. specimen-to-film distance. The prepn. of undecalcified enamel specimen includes the cutting of sections 0.1 mm. thick with a diamond saw and hand-grinding to 0.05 mm. or less. Reflections have been recorded on the diffractogram of enamel which have not been previously demonstrated. A photomicrograph of the sample as mounted in the camera records the exact spot examined with the X-rays and permits the correlation of the sample and of the diffractogram.
