Fatal necrotizing pancreatitis following fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the pancreas.

Abstract

What is believed to be the 1st [human] case of fulminant necrotizing pancreatitis leading to death following percutaneous fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the pancreas, is presented. Possible causes are discussed and clinical indications for biopsy are re-examined.
