Abstract
The design and construction of a parallel strip-spring movement for a high-resolution Fabry-Perot spectrometer are described. Scanning frequencies of up to 1000 c/s have been achieved and simultaneous slow and oscillatory scanning is employed. Details are given of tests on the movement. Parallelism is retained to better than 0.02" over 5 orders. The driving current-displacement relation is linear to 0.5% and can be calibrated to 4 times this accuracy. Auxiliary optical and electronic arrangements are also described.
