Abstract
Results are presented of the effect of grain size on the critical strain to the onset of jerky flow in a commercial copper 5 wt. % tin alloy. It is concluded that it is necessary to build up some critical dislocation density for jerky flow to develop and that this corresponds to some critical local enhanced diffusion at dislocations. Keywords
