Abstract
In this study, an attempt is made to determine the vol. of the pulp chambers and root canals. At least 10 specimens of each type of extracted human tooth, except 3d molars, were removed, and the canals were enlarged. Then, Hg, equal in vol. to the amt. of medication ordinarily sealed into a tooth undergoing endodontic treatment, was placed in the root canals and pulp chamber of the tooth in question. After this was removed and weighed on an analytical balance, the vol. was detd. Values ranging from 0.0088 ml., for the mandibular incisor, to 0.0412 ml., for the mandibular first molar, were thus obtained. From, these values, the amounts of medicaments which can be sealed into a tooth prepared for root canal therapy, can be detd. Keywords
