Arterial blood gas tensions and pH were studied serially before, during and after tilting into a steep Trendelenburg position in six young patients under light general anaesthesia. The minute volumes and respiratory rates were also recorded during anaesthesia. No significant changes in any of the parameters measured could be attributed to the Trendelenburg position.
