Abstract
The status of the genus is discussed, the synonymy of Brunella with Calamoecia being upheld, and the synonymy of Calamoecia with Limnocalanus being rejected. A new description is proposed for the genus which is considered as now containing nine species, one of which is new. A key to species is given for both male and female specimens. Eight of the species are figured and where necessary redescribed. The distribution of the genus and some of the species is discussed, together with some general aspects of their ecology.
