Density of states of liquid Cu

Abstract
The result of the Anderson and McMillan model for a liquid metal and the modification of Schwartz and Ehrenreich are checked. It is shown that both groups have missed branches of the dispersion E(k) curve around the region of the d-resonance energy. The method of calculating the density states from the E(k) curve developed by Anderson and McMillan is generalized to the case where there are two values of k corresponding to the same energy. Numerical results for the density of states and the Fermi energy are presented for liquid Cu. The dispersion curves can be interpreted in terms of an sd hybridization model similar to that used for solid transition metals.
