Fichier de population et structures de gestion de base de données : le fichier-réseau BALSAC et le système INGRES/INGRID

Gérard Bouchard, Raymond Roy, Bernard Casgrain and Michel Hubert. Population files and data base management : the BALSAC data base and the INGRES/INGRID system. The BALSAC register covers the population of east Quebec from the beginning of te settlement in the XVIIth century up to the present time. A relational system (INGRES) has been used to construct individual biographies, genealogical pedigrees and cohorts. For a convivial use, an interface (INGRID) has been developped for specialized queries. Fields of research include social sciences and human genetics.
