Abstract
In rabbits and a dog, the marker substances and glucose solution were infused intraduodenally through separate tubes and were aspirated through 3 tybes spaced 10-25 cm distal to the infusion site. Aspiration through a single tube varies greatly and is incomplete, with no relation between the volumes aspirated and the volume present. Recovery of polyethyleneglycol 4000, bromsulphalein and sodium chromate-Cr51 is identical, but calculations of total intestinal content based on marker concentrations give values up to 50% too high. Keywords
