The relation of the genes envA and ftsA in Escherichia coli

Abstract
The sequence of three genes involved in cell division in E. coli has been determined to be ftsA-envA-azi by three-point transduction experiments. An ftsA envA double mutant strain forms filaments at the restrictive temperature of 42° C, and not chains, but, like the chain forming envA parent strain, is hypersensitive to rifampicin.
