Reaction of 3-O-p-bromophenylsulfonyl-1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose with dimethylamine

Abstract
The p-bromobenzenesulfonate of l,2:5,6-di-0-isopropylidene-[alpha]-D-gluco-furanose (4) reacts with dimethylamine by aromatic nucleophilic substitution to give the p-dimethylaminobenezenesulfonate of (4), rather than by attack at C-3 of the sugar moiety.
