A colony of Wistar rats was found to contain about 23% of animals resistant to the anaphylactoid reaction caused by dextran or egg-white. Non-reactivity is a simple recessive Mendelian trait. It could be outbred to other strains of rats. No information about the mechanism was detected. Non-reactors do not show the increased histamine blood level shown by reactors after dextran injection.
