Abstract
Case histories and pathological findings are described in 26 infants. It is stressed that these patients were full term, mature infants since previous reports had described the syndrome only in prematures. It is suggested that hepatic immaturity secondary to maternal malnutrition is responsible for the hyperbilirubinemia and kernicterus in these infants. Keywords
