Cushing's Syndrome without Adenomatous or Hyperplastic Changes in the Pituitary Body or Adrenal Cortices and Complicated by Alkalosis: Report of Case with Necropsy

Abstract
This report deals with one more instance of alkalosis and low K occurring in Cushing''s syndrome, 3 cases having been previously reported from the Mayo Clinic. A minute study of the tissues at necropsy failed to reveal a tumor anywhere or any demonstrable hyper-plasia of the adrenal cortex. The adm. of K citrate brought about definite changes in the electrocardiogram and these changes occurred concomitantly with an increase in the level of the serum K.
