Observations on 160 animals show that there is marked seasonal variation in the incidence of estrus in laboratory rabbits. Some factor other than diet and temp. is probably responsible. Duration of isolation or vaginal color are not basis for selection of estrus rabbits. Estrus rabbits can be obtained consistently if the choice is limited to healthy postpartum [female][female].
