LIVER SCANNING IN PATIENTS WITH SUSPECTED OR PROVEN CANCER

Abstract
In this study, 39 per cent of the patients with proven cancer referred for scanning had evidence of metastatic disease. Of those referred for scanning as part of their initial work-up for suspected cancer, 33 per cent had abnormal scans. The magnitude of these 2 percentages indicates that liver scanning is of great value in the routine work-up of the patient with proven or suspected cancer.
