Abstract
A low-toxicity antibiotic effective against many bacteria, including streptomycin-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis, was isolated and concd. from a culture of soil bacteria related to Actinomyces fradii (Streptomyces fradiae). It is basic, water-soluble, insoluble in organic solvents, thermostable, and appears to differ chemically from streptomycin and streptothricin.Keywords
