Abstract

The effect of a representative selection of phenolic substances on thyroid iodine uptake in the rat was studied, using I131. with one exception all the compounds found to be strongly antithyroid could be regarded as derivatives of resorcinol. Possible modes of action of these derivatives on the thyroid are discussed.
