Abstract
During a 3 yr period renal transplantation was performed in 12 patients with amyloidosis. This disease was primary (or the cause unknown) in 2 cases and secondary in 10. In the latter cases the primary disease was rheumatoid arthritis in 6, ankylosing spondylitis in 1, osteomyelitis in 2 and tuberculosis in 1. Of the 12 patients 5 were alive 1 yr after transplantation. Two yr after transplantation 4 out of 7 were alive. Graft survival was the same. At the end of the 3 yr period 5 patients were alive. In 2 of these cases renal biopsy showed amyloid deposits in the transplant 2 and 3 yr, respectively, after the transplantation. Keywords
