Abstract
The hydrogen lyase concerned in the production of gas from formic acid is composed of the 2 enzymes, hydrogenase and formic de-hydrogenase. In order for these 2 enzymes to serve as hydrogen lyase, a 3d factor is necessary. Variants that lack any one of the 3 factors are not able to produce gas from formic acid or glucose. Gas formed from glucose comes from intermediately produced formic acid.
