Mass ofCa36

Abstract

The ${}_{}{}^{40}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ca}$(${}_{}{}^4{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{He}$,${}_{}{}^8{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{He}$)${}_{}{}^{36}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ca}$ reaction has been used to provide the first observation of the nuclide ${}_{}{}^{36}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Ca}$. The $Q$ value and mass excess were found to be -57.58 ± 0.04 and -6.44 ± 0.04 MeV, respectively. The new mass completes four members of the $A=36\mathrm{}$ isobaric quintet and hence serves as a test of the isobaric multiple mass equation.
