Abstract
Simple expressions are obtained for the total reaction cross section in terms of the interaction barrier for the wave. These expressions allow the interaction barrier to be determined experimentally. Analysis of experimental data for heavy ions on shows that the effective radius parameter decreases as projectile charges increase.
