The Absence of Soluble Antibacterial Inhibitors in Clostridium spp.

Abstract

Fluid cultures of 235 strains, comprising more than 16 spp. of Clostridium, were tested for inhibition of Mycobacterium phlei, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli by the agar cup-plate method. The results were negative except for weak, variably positive tests against M. phlei in the case of 2 strains of C. sporogenes and 2 of C. bifermentans.
