Abstract
Two spp. of Phlebotomus have been collected at Uvalde, Texas, and their habits and taxonomic characters studied. One is P. diabolicus* Hall, 1936, the description of which is amended and extended; the other is a species with peculiar characters of pharynx, [male] genitalia, and spermatheca which warrant the erection of a new subgenus, DAMPFOMYIA. The name P anthophorus* is proposed for this species. P. diabolicus frequents human habitations, biting man; P. anthophorus has been found, in nature, feeding only on rabbits.
