Rupture of Diseased Large Arteries in the Course of Enterobacterial (Salmonella) Infections

Abstract
IT is the purpose of this report to call attention to the syndrome of rupture of previously diseased large arteries in the presence of bacterial infection caused by members of the gram-negative enterobacteriaceae, among which the salmonellae are the most common offenders, and in the absence of bacterial endocarditis. The steady increase of atherosclerosis and salmonellosis,¶ as well as the recent advances in vascular surgery, is likely to bring more cases of this nature to light.
