Abstract
Available approaches for modelling the RF plasma torch are not self-consistent in their treatment of electromagnetic fields. A completely two-dimensional approach is proposed in this Letter, including a self-consistent electromagnetic field formulation. Computational results show that although the overall features of the flow and temperature fields remain unchanged, the size and strength of the recirculation vortexes in the flow field are appreciably smaller than those predicted by the previous approach. Keywords
