Abstract
The mold metabolites frequentin (C14H22O4) and palitantin (C14H22O4) obtained from Penicillium palitans and some atypical strains of P. frequentans both give dihydropalitantin (C14H24O4) on reduction with Na amalgam. Hence the C skeletons and positions of the O atoms in the 2 metabolites are identical. Keywords
