Abstract
Changes in the organic acid content of leaf pieces were studied by use of a simple titration technic. Both illumination and raising the temp. decreased the total amt. of acids, the magnitude of the change depending on the previous history of the leaf tissue. Azide, cyanide, and iodoacetate ([image]/1000), when infiltrated into the tissue strongly inhibited such changes in acid content. [image]/1000 fluoride inhibited slightly, but pyrophosphate had no effect. Azide and iodoacetate ([image]/1000) inhibited also the accumulation of acids in the dark.
