Abstract
Studies involving 30 Holstein calves were carried out to formulate the best system of starting and continuing calves on reconstituted whey (9 lbs. water and 1 lb. dried whey) to 60 days of age. The results indicate that reconstituted whey should not be fed until the calf is at least 2 weeks of age and that the change to an all-whey liquid diet should be gradual. When scouring was stopped with 0.25 teaspoonful of slacked lime stirred into the remade whey at each feeding, normal rates of growth were obtained. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
